Delano Tigers Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-2 loss to Holy Family Catholic on Tuesday. Holy Family Catholic scored on a single by Patrick Barrett in the first inning and a groundout by Thomas Aragon-Menze in the second inning.
The Delano Tigers Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Holy Family Catholic, giving up eight runs.
Holy Family Catholic opened up scoring in the first inning, when Barrett singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Holy Family Catholic scored three runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Holy Family Catholic came thanks to a single by Barrett and a double by Bryce Richter.
Caden Pottebaum was credited with the victory for Holy Family Catholic. He surrendered one run on four hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six. Jack Bucholz threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Dylan Hall took the loss for Delano Tigers Varsity. He surrendered five runs on six hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.
Oran Hinkle, Jacob VanBeusekom, Reno Bredahl, Robbie Knight, Noah Schnieder, and Carson Tschudi each collected one hit to lead Delano Tigers Varsity.
Holy Family Catholic tallied ten hits on the day. Richter, Barrett, and Pottebaum each collected multiple hits for Holy Family Catholic. Holy Family Catholic tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Eric Rinzl led the way with two.
